Seven Years and hundreds of miles later a beautiful reunion recently took place in Gaston, North Carolina.

The story goes on to share info about that how Bemis went missing seven years ago in Virginia and despite search efforts was never found. Fast forward years and miles later, Accettola received a call that resulted in her traveling from her new home in California to be reunited at Wilkinson Animal Hospital in Gaston, NC where he was brought in as a stray.
CHIP FOUND, DETECTIVE WORK BEGINS
When Bemis was brought in to Wilkinson Animal Hospital by a Good Samaritan, staff scanned him for a chip. While one was found, the contact info no longer worked, so detective work over a number of days ensued. The staff, true believers of microchips, were happy to take on the challenge. Turns out Wilkinson actively promotes microchipping to their clientele, and provide pamphlets about their importance. They also scan their clients’ pets during annual wellness exams to be sure it can be read.

The human-animal bond was clearly evident with this cross country reunion years after a beloved pet went missing.
Congratulations to Kelly and Bemis! We are thrilled you are back together again. Clearly you have much catching up to do : )
